American poet Lucille Clifton dies
Lucille Clifton one of the major American poet was died on Monday at John Hopkins university hospital in Baltimore according to the reports said by the Clifton’s sister. It is found that Clifton was not healthy for couple of years and she was suffering from some sort of infection which has really worsened her health more day by day. However she has undergone a surgery to remove her colon last week but still the real cause behind the death of the famous poet is unknown.
Clifton sister Elaine Philip said that “We lost our precious sister and we looked for every ways to trace out what is happening in her body, but till last minute we don’t know what happened in her body.
Clifton achieved some of the most prestigious and world’s highest honors awards. She was two-time Pulitzer Prize nominee and the first women to receive the African- American to be awarded the Ruth Lilly Prize for life time achievement by the poetry Association in the year 2007. She also has bagged the National Book Award for “Blessing the Boats: New and Selected Poems, 1988-2000.” The funeral of the great poet will be done on Tuesday.
